Manually appointing Annual Increment to employees is a time-consuming process. SoftwareOne, a software company operating in many different sectors was looking for a way to optimize this annually recurring task.

Due to the sensitive nature of the information, and after FourVision performed a successful Microsoft Dynamics 365 HR implementation for SoftwareOne, the two software companies decided to join forces to create the perfect Annual Increment functionality on top of FourVision’s existing Performance Management Web App.

In search of a fitting annual increment solution

SoftwareOne already had Microsoft Dynamics 365 Human Resources up and running. However, a merit increase functionality does not come out-of-the-box in D365 HR.  Also, due to the sensitive nature of the information, the long-time partnership between SoftwareOne and FourVision turned out to be beneficial.

In search of a fitting solution, the teams set out to find one. As it turned out to be, the Performance Management Web App offered a related functionality. Namely the ability to set- and track personal goals would form a strong foundation for further development.

Translating the customer’s process to standard software functionality

The salary increase process is a recurring event for organizations. Luckily, SoftwareOne already had a manual salary increase process which is essential for understanding a process and ultimately translating it to functionality.

Based on the information coming from Dynamics 365 Human Resources, the system makes a proposal for Salary Increase. For example: Salary can be increased based on fixed percentages depending on different compensation regions. At the same time the Web App proposes variable compensation such as annual bonuses or bonussed based on Performance Management goals – merit.

Additional functionality

Multinational organizations like SoftwareOne often use local currencies. In order to keep budget holders satisfied, the Annual Increment functionality allows for the use of multiple currencies.

To prevent budget holders from running out of the budget or going over the budget, it is possible to add flags on the total budget and budget lines. When the limit is reached, the budget holder will be required to add a justification before sending the salary increase into the workflow to the review stage. At the same time this functionality makes it easy to see which proposals are out of budget during the review stage.
