Transforming to digital HR from the ground up at Sanford

Remaining at the forefront of technology

Throughout its long history, Sanford has continually evolved to embrace new technologies. Growing from a traditional family fishery to one of the world’s most innovative, sustainable aquaculture companies, innovation is in Sanford’s DNA.

To meet the demands of modern HR and recruitment, Sanford partnered with FourVision to implement a state-of-the-art digital HR solution consisting of Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Human Resources and the FourVision HR suite, including Performance Management, Succession Planning, Merit Increase, HR Request, Document Management, Boarding and the Payroll Interface.

End-to-end digital HR from the ground up

Like any thriving business today, Sanford recognizes the vital strategic role of HR in their company’s success. Their company had long outgrown its previous HR setup, which relied entirely on inefficient email correspondence and paper documents. In 2022, under the leadership of Nicole Lithgow, People and Culture Business Lead at Sanford, the company took decisive action to fully modernize and digitalize its HR system.

Collaborating around the globe

As a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and the first Microsoft partner to specialize in the HRM module of Dynamics 365, FourVision was exactly the partner Sanford needed to support its digital HR transformation. Yet with 12 time zones between New Zealand and FourVision’s European headquarters, it would take a truly global effort to get the project moving.

Thanks to FourVision’s global network, time differences were no obstacle. Dubai-based FourVision Project Manager Alroy Lawrence headed up the implementation, and the project was completed within 16 months.

“The implementation has been amazing, and we couldn’t have asked for a better team,” recalls Nicole.
“Alroy was super flexible in planning and working around the difference in time zones. We’re really satisfied with the support we got from FourVision throughout this project.”

A true team effort

“This project has been a wonderful experience for us as FourVision. We devoted our full expertise to delivering a tailored solution, also working in step with implementation teams from our partners LMS365 and DXC Technology. It was truly a global effort and I can’t say enough good things about how everyone came together and worked as a team to make it happen,” says Alroy.

Results that speak for themselves

Following successful implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 HR and a Lift & Shift migration to Microsoft Dynamics F&O, the team integrated the FourVision HR suite with 7 Web Apps, and built a new integration specially to accommodate Snaphire, Sanford’s recruitment solution.

Since going live with its new HR system, Sanford’s HR department is now fully equipped to play a more strategic, data-driven role in the company’s operations. Some of the key benefits delivered by the new system include:

  • An end-to-end HR solution, with the FourVision Suite and partner solutions expanding and enhancing the native capabilities of Microsoft Dynamics F&O.
  • Self-service HR tools that empower employees to submit and receive all the information they need on their own.
  • Simplified workflows for key HR processes like training, leave and absence, certifications and benefits.
  • The ability for managers to visualize HR data with Power BI, so that Sanford can create insightful dashboards displaying workforce analytics.

One highlight of the new system for Nicole is the simplicity of the workflows:

“The Performance module is awesome to use during performance reviews. The ratings flow through the Merit Increase module, and then you can flow through the Succession Planning module. The workflow is great and everything can be tailored to our business processes. We’ve certainly come a long way compared to doing everything on paper.”
